Federal Noise Abatement Commission

The Federal Noise Abatement Commission (FNAC) acts as an interdisciplinary and independent non-parliamentary commission of the Confederation in the areas of noise and vibration abatement, combining science, research, implementation and administration.

It advises the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC) and the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) on scientific and methodological issues relating to abatement of noise and vibration and to their impact on health, well-being and quality of life. It compiles the relevant data, reports, recommendations and applications.

In December 2021, the FNAC published its latest report (available in german, french, or italian) with recommendations for limit values for road, rail and aircraft noise.
